What happens in the first session?
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl Jung
“The encounter, the very heart of psychotherapy, is a caring, deeply human meeting between two people.” — Irvin D. Yalom
“Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.” — Carl Jung
The initial assessment is a gentle 30-minute call (completely free) — a calm space to begin building safety and understanding.
We’ll take time to explore what brings you to therapy, what you’d like support with, and any questions or concerns you may have. There’s no pressure to share more than feels right; we simply move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. This free call also gives us both the chance to see whether we feel like a good fit to work together.
I currently offer these first sessions online. Meeting from the comfort of your own home can make that first step feel easier and more relaxed — no travel, just a familiar space where many people find it easier to settle and speak openly. After a few weeks of working online, we can decide together if you’d like to meet in person from time to time.
If we both feel it’s a good match, we can then talk about what ongoing support might look like for you.
