ABOUT MY WORK
Hello, and welcome.
I am Hortense Laura Pantea, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist in Milton Keynes. I hold an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Merit and I am a registered member of the BACP. I also hold a PGCE with Merit. I speak French and Romanian fluently, as well as English.
I work with adults and with children from the age of five, in person or online. My core training included taught work on children and young people, adolescent case studies, creative methods, and a supervised placement with clients from 11 through to adulthood.
I have two separate pieces of further CPD: the Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People with SPC / Dr Sue Pattison, which is accredited by the CPD Standards Office and loggable with BACP, and the Certificate in Working Therapeutically with Autistic Clients with Counselling Tutor, which is NCPS Quality Checked and loggable with BACP.
I work in an autism-aware, autism-informed way. I am not an autism specialist and I do not diagnose.
Before this practice I was a teacher for more than fifteen years in primary, secondary and SEND. That time in classrooms taught me how children communicate when words are hard, and how families carry school, home and worry at the same time. Sessions can be in English, French or Romanian. I offer a steady room, play and talk when they help, and I work within my competence, with supervision and with the right insurance for the age of the person in front of me.
My approach is integrative and relational at heart. I draw mainly on person-centred therapy, CBT and psychodynamic thinking, and I also bring in creative methods, mindfulness and relaxation when they feel helpful. I believe that real change grows from a genuine, trusting relationship, and I will support you to find your own insights in your own time.
With children and young people, Under creative methods I may use play and sand as part of integrative counselling. I am not a registered play therapist or sandplay therapist. These creative approaches help express what can be hard to put into words — and they can be powerful for adults too
I also offer body-based support such as reflexology, aromatherapy massage and Indian head massage. When combined with talking therapy, this can help calm the nervous system and ease the tension that so often sits alongside emotional pain.
Before training as a therapist, I spent over 15 years working as a teacher, supporting many children with special educational needs and those affected by trauma. This experience still shapes the way I listen and work today.
My hope is to offer you a safe, warm and genuine space where you can feel a little more settled, a little more connected to yourself, and a little lighter as you move forward.
If this way of working feels right for you, I would be glad to hear from you.
